Cornel Emergency Intercoms

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) now law, requires a Rescue Assistance System in all newly constructed multi-story commercial and public accommodations to provide a means to request evacuation assistance in emergencies. The ADA also applies to a significant renovations of existing multi-story facilities.

cornell_araResponding to this growing demand, Cornell has developed the 4200 Series Audio Rescue Assistance System. The 42000 Series Consisting of a main control panel for management hardwired to strategically located remote stations for callers use.

When a caller activates the remote station a red indicating lamp on the main control panel warns management of a call for assistance and gives the location of the caller. Management then depresses a response button which illuminates an indicating lamp on the call station and sends a pulse tone to inform the caller that his call for assistance has been recognized and that communication can begin. The remote unit is a hands free system and no other action is required by the caller to begin or continue communication. An important feature when a caller is in a stressful situation. After the emergency has been resolved management resets the system to standby by depressing a reset button.

The 4200 remotes stations are hardwired to the main control panel to monitor the integrity of each remote. If a line is lost an indicating lamp will light warning management of the failure. Applications such as schools, public transportation and certain multi-story residences the vandal resistant remote call station is suggested.

A complete line of signage is available. This includes battery powered lighted room and location indicators. Directional sighs are also available. These signs meet ADA specifications for use in Area of Rescue Assistance.
